A 9”x 12” colored pencil or graphite portrait is starts at $450 and is dependent on the subject, the size and complication.

This seems like a lot of money, but several years of Art School (at Guildford School of Art, now the University of the Creative Arts in Surrey, England) and many decades of drawing have gone into being able to render a portrait of a child or animal. If there is more than one image in the portrait, the charge is usually 50% of the original for each additional image. It takes about two weeks, working six hours a day to finish a portrait. Colored pencil work is beautiful but very slow. There can be up to fifteen layers of color laid down to achieve richness and depth. I frequently return to class in order to master the newest materials and techniques.

Other sizes are available, but I have found that this size is the one most people choose as it looks very good with a mat and a 14”x16” frame. If you would like a different size, I am happy to discuss it with you.

You will need to send an initial 50% down payment with the remainder due at delivery. If the artwork is mailed to you, I use UPS and will charge postage and packing. Enclosed with your artwork will be a Certificate of Authenticity which has a numbered laser sticker matching the one on the rear of your portrait. The Certificate will list the materials used, the year of completion and the title of the artwork as well as my signature.
